World Vision - Teddy Bears Program

Handmade knitted Teddy Bears are sent to babies and children around the world. In Toronto, Valerie Thomas and friends have collected soft materials, knit and stuffed over 40,000 Teddy Bears from recycled goods in the past 3 1/2 years. These bears bring comfort to abandoned children in orphanages around the world.

Washed torn panty-hose, old socks with a hole, yarn, ribbons, felt and stuffing of all kinds receive a new life. It also diverts items from our land fill sites that can be put to better use.

World Vision is a relief and developmental organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty. They serve the world's poor - regardless of a person's religion, race, ethnicity or gender.
